Ase Manual is an American artist and touring musician currently based in New Jersey. He is best known for his soul-driven,fresh take on east-coast club music. The Like That heads also curate Bounce Gallery, a nomadic Brooklyn monthly club/rap night He also performs regularly as a resident dj of Hot Action (NYC) and 135 the Party (Newark, Nj). In 2017 Ase Manual is planning for lots of new music and touring around the US.
Along with Ase, we’ll have master curator GRRL on deck. Durham-based & internationally known, GRRL provides notorious playlists of the hottest club music around for NTS radio. GRRL has long been a music devotee, reposting copious tracks, participating in beat cyphers, and producing quality fresh sounds. The wider world has definitely taken notice, from people such as Skrillex praising GRRL's mix to an increasing number of media features like GRRL’s NestHQ series. To get to know GRRL you should get to know their Twitter feed, which is a living art piece of positivity, music, and emojis. A truly sweet and talented human being, GRRL is going places and we want to come along.
James Bangura is behind the scenes collaborating with producers all over NC (and beyond), & is sitting on a goldmine of unreleased bangers that would be best heard on Party Illegal’s custom subwoofer speakers. Inspired by Jersey club, ballroom, & techno, James constructs tracks that flirt with the idea of being club tools while maintaining a level dexterity.
Finally, one of Durham’s busiest DJs, Party Illegal’s PlayPlay, will round out the night, but not with their usual high-energy DJ set. PlayPlay has started performing their original music out live using a new hardware setup consisting of a sampler, sequencer, drum machine, and Moog synthesizer. PlayPlay’s sound is heavily influenced by the early jungle, Baltimore club, & acid house that they already weave in their DJ sets, & they are stoked to be sharing their own improvisational material with everyone.
