with Jennifer Stanigar, PhD, RYT and Olivia Fried, Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner / LMBT
The original aim of Yoga was to prepare the body to sit in meditation. Asana practice is also used to strengthen and care for the body and mind. Ayurveda is the holistic form of medicine developed alongside Yoga over 5000 years ago and is concerned with preventing disease through self-care. The beginning point for self-care is knowing one's Dosha, or the predominant of the 3 elemental energies that reside in our bodies influencing how we function as unique human beings.
As a participant in this workshop, you will complete a self-assessment to determine your unique dosha type and learn about the best diet and lifestyle strategies for reaching and maintaining a healthy you. You will then practice 3 different sets of asanas, including a breath technique, designed to meet the needs of each dosha. Experiencing the three practices will allow you to connect to the different qualities that different asana practices lend the body.
Feeling is learning and this is a workshop to embrace feeling great in your own unique body! All levels are welcome in this workshop. Bring a friend!
