This captivating workshop will introduce students to the art of Shibori, Indigo Blue and Natural Dyes. Day one students will be guided through the process of making a natural botanical Indigo vat and learn the techniques of Shibori, a Japanese manual shape resist dyeing technique, which produces beautiful patterns on fabric. Day two students will explore the possibilities of adding the rich natural dyes of madder and weld, creating layers of depth and color to the beautiful shibori cloth. These dyes and techniques embrace the element of chance and the individuality of the maker. Students will complete the workshop with a collection of finished projects on silk.
