Join us for a very special event to celebrate Raleigh Beer Week! We'll be welcoming the folks from Brewery Bhavana as we tap some of their first sours! We'll also have a limited amount of The Till and Grove cans available to purchase, plus other surprises! Here's a list of what will be flowing from out taps at 5pm:

Roselle
Rosé inspired Ale (13%): This blushing, floral ale is modeled after sparkling French rose’s. Hibiscus and rose hips lend soft aromatics to balance its rough bubbles and clean, dry finish. Aged over tart cherries, grapefruit zest, and raspberries, then blended with just a touch of our house sour culture, it takes us more than three months to make.

Magnifera
Mango Sour Ale (6.4%): Magnifera is a remembrance: an attempt to recreate the sheer delight of mango season in Uganda and the joy of bright, ripe fruit after 9 months of thirst. Aged for many months, in both our white oak foeder and single-use wine barrels, it began its life as a buckwheat saison. Thirty pounds of dried mango and our house sour culture made the difference.

Amaranthus
Blueberry Dark Sour (6.5%): Amaranthus is our dark, fruited sour, aged in single-use wine barrels and tertiary fermented with local blueberries, raspberries and cherries. Spelt and wheat form the backbone of its flavor, beneath the dancing tones of our house saison and sour cultures.

Foeder-Aged Brett Saison (6.0%): The second batch from our wild-yeasted white oak foeder, this pungent saison has now fermented for nearly eight months, turning much more funky, acidic, and tart but finishing just as dry as ever. Brettanomyces, the yeast that builds its flavor, is found naturally on the skins of fruit. In beer, it imparts faint pineapple and peach-like flavors but is probably better known for its barnyard funk. For us, this beer is an attempt at letting-go: a space in which we let unpredictable forces do their work. The last eight months have been an exercise in patience and an absolute joy to taste its shifting flavors as it grew and changed.

Piglette Grisette (3.8%): Sour, bright and ultra light, grisettes are the traditional Belgian table beer for summer: low alcohol, easy to drink, but chock full of flavor. Our version hits all the high notes, balancing a Berlinerweisse-like tartness with some Brettanomyces funk and all the gentle complexity of our house saison yeast. To make it, we blended a light saison base with barrels of both our Brett and house sour cultures. Its the first beer to benefit from our sour blending tank, and its name is a nod to the mispronunciation of Sow (that’s “so”), our abbey single.
