In 2017, we marched. In 2018, we knock!

We are 300+ days from a crucial election. Here’s a New Year’s Resolution worth keeping: Join the critical fight for our progressive values and our democracy!

This launch event (#turnupturnoutnc) will bring together grassroots groups from across the state and engaged citizens looking for opportunities to be of service. We’ll roll out the electoral strategy and harness the momentum built over the past year to win races from the mountains to the coast. In the coming months, volunteers across NC – coordinating their efforts around voter engagement (canvassing, phone banking, etc.) – will be critical to breaking the GOP supermajority in the General Assembly in 2018 and turning NC blue in 2020. In a blue moon election year like this one, base turnout is typically very low. We can flip seats just by turning out likely Dem voters. We don't need to change anyone's mind; we just need to get our people to the polls!

This event will feature special guest speaker Kathryn Sorenson, who was featured in The New York Times Magazine in November for her work in the Virginia election. She served as campaign manager for David Reid, who secured a 17-point victory for a House of Delegates seat in the 32nd district (Loudoun County) against a seven-year incumbent, largely because Kathryn worked with local chapters of Indivisible, Swing Left, and Together We Will.

We are proud to partner with the following organizations on this launch: Our Shot NC, Now or Never NC, Stronger North Carolina, Protect Our Vote NC, Neighbors on Call, Durham For Organizing Action, Aim Higher Now NC, Indivisibles NC — Indivisible Groups of North Carolina, Indivisible NC 36, NC Progressive Citizens, Protecting Progress in Durham and Together We Will North Carolina.

Come out, be inspired, get the tools you need to be most effective, and meet organizers from across the state. The agenda includes inspiring “pitches,” networking time, and delicious snacks and drinks.

This event is free (although you will have to pay for your own drinks), but an RSVP is required. RSVP here: goo.gl/LS3esV

Fired up? Ready to flip? See you there.
