Join us for a night of good friends making good music at Deep South The Bar! Come show us some love the night after Valentine's Day! Music starts at 8:30 with Azul. Daniel Anderson Trio goes on at 9:30 and then The Upward Dogs close the night with an improv extravaganza!
AZUL — AZUL is a solo project by Azul Zapata. Her sound is as multicultural as her background. Hailing from Argentina her music ranges from jazz, latin folk, blues, r&b, to soul. Her originals are lyrically-driven pieces from the jumbles in her head and heart. She hopes you listen and understand her goal: to tell her story.
The Daniel Anderson Trio — Daniel Anderson is a multi-instrumentalist based in the Raleigh, NC area. Having spent most of his time as a sideman for various roots music-based projects, he is now stepping out to lead a guitar oriented instrumental fusion project of his own that blends jazz, rock, blues, funk, gospel, and world music.
Initially known for his fiery slide guitar playing, reminiscent of masters such as Duane Allman, Derek Trucks, and Warren Haynes, Daniel now displays a broader palette of influences within the context of his trio, whether it's a fresh interpretation of a classic jazz or pop song, or one of his original compositions. Combined with the versatile rhythm section of Ryan Masecar on drums and E. Scott Warren on bass, this project provides a solid foundation for each member to embark on their own sonic adventures. Improvisation, melody, and the musicianship to convey these musical ideas in an emotive way are what The Daniel Anderson Trio is about.
The Upward Dogs — The Upward Dogs are a collective of musicians and artists led by drummer / multi-instrumentalist Scott Jones, and spanning from Raleigh-Durham to Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago. Unique «soups» of players are summoned for each gig or session, and come together to improvise in the moment. The vibe tends to fall in the realms of jazz / funk / hip hop but it's truly anything goes based on the energy of the room.
Tonight's lineup will be featuring Daniel Anderson on guitar, E Scott Warren on bass, Eric Earley on saxophone, Scott Jones on drums, and Evan Bost on keys / synth.
Get ready to have a lot of fun dancing and participating in the spontaneous creativity!
