"This is my home place. This is where I grew up and my affection for this state is organic. My roots lie here in this very soil." -\-\ artist Ernie Barnes on Durham, NC.

Join us Thursday, June 28th as we celebrate the opening of this extraordinary exhibition: The North Carolina Roots of Artist Ernie Barnes. Born in Durham, Barnes' spent his 20s in the NFL, retiring at the age of 28 to devote himself to art.

We are thrilled to celebrate this stunning exhibit, pieces of which have never before been on view to the public. The exhibit includes paintings, studies, and important artifacts to Ernie's history as an athlete and an artist.
